Reading Notes: Noah, Part A

A:
The Ark: God realizes how wicked the earth had become, and decided his only move was to destroy his own creation of humans... except for Noah, b/c Noah and God were chill. God told noah that destruction was coming, and told him to make a huge boat because God was planning on cleansing the earth from all the sin.

The Flood: After getting more instructions from God, Noah gathered two of each animal, his family, and enough food for the long journey. Seven days after this, the forty day rain spell hit the planet, thus flooding the entire thing. Also, everything that wasnt on the boat died a horrible death...

After the Flood: after forty days and nights, God sent a wind from the heavens and the water began to leave the earths surface. This took 150 days total. The boat ended up "docking" at the Ararat Mountains, on 7-17-????. Noah then did as God commanded and opened the window he had made and sent a raven and a dove out every seven days to see if they would return with any signal that the water was all gone. Finally, the birds returned with what he was looking for and at this spot he built an alter to the Lord.

Noah's Sons: Noah was blessed with multiple sons, and Noah, through the Lord's intercession, told them to go forth and multiply, to replenish the earth with goodness and faithful followers of the Lord. God then made a promise to Noah and his sons that he would never flood the earth again, and symbolized this promise by sending a rainbow. Then as Noah returned to the earth, he became a drunk, and embarrassed his entire family. His sons did their best to cover this up, and eventually Noah died.

The Tower of Babel: This story is about the families of Noah's sons. These families became so large that nations were made in their names. At this time, the entire earth spoke one language. The families began building cities, and one in particular was the city of Babel. The became greedy however, and God intervened and sent down his spirit and scattered different languages throughout the nations, so that none could understand each other. These cities were becoming too advanced and too reckless. The name Babel came from their inability to understand each others' different languages.

The Birth of Noah: Noah was born, but his father thought that he was not a normal human, and claims that he took on the presence of an angelic like being. Noah was different. This story foreshadows the great flood and talks about how the parents of Noah confronted their God and God told them that Noah was going to be one of the only humans to survive a great event that would change the earth forever. It also talks about how the curse that was upon the earth was made through the sin of Adam. It also talks about how Noah invented the plow, the scythe, and the hoe, and other things notable for cultivating the ground. ***Indicator that Noah was the chosen one: When God created Adam, he gave him rule over all things. The cow would obey the farmer and the furrow was willing to be drawn?... But after the fall of Adam in the garden of eden, the cow no longer obeyed the farmer, and the furrow was refractory???... --> Before the birth of Noah, the sea would have high tide twice a day, which would flood the lands. After the birth of Noah, the sea stayed put.

The Punishment of the Fallen Angels: Noah finds out about the flood from Uriel. The rest of the story talks about three fallen angels that told God that they could be good on earth, and do no harm, but as the story plays out, we see that the angels fell for sin and could not control their sinful urges. The angels were stripped of their supernatural characteristics and gave birth to giants. This was the last straw for God.

The Generation of Deluge: This story gives more detail on the extent of the sins that were caused from the fall of the angels, and how it transformed the earth from a God praising state, into a completely sinful and dark state. God is merciful towards all sinners, and is patient, but the entire earth was contaminated. God used Noah as a missionary, and Noah did all he could to try to change the world from sin. He would often use the prophecy of the flood as a way to get sinners to repent/change, but even this could not cure the sinfulness completely.
